So I've been experimenting with this one very special thing called yogurt! Not only is it great for your immune system and body internally, but it's great for the skin, too! When applied to the skin, the lactic acid in the yogurt stimulates sebaceous glands, helping prevent and treat acne. The lactic acid also helps reduce redness and destroy bacterial colonies found mainly on hair follicles. :)
I've been using yogurt for a while now, and I have found that it is extremely soothing, moisturizing, and it really is working! The kind I use is the all-natural plain low-fat kind. But very recently, I have found this all-natural kind with honey in it. An added bonus! I will write a post about honey as well, since it is SO post-worthy. Anyway, what I do in order to actually extract all the goodness and benefits from yogurt is dip two fingers into the container, massage it on my face for a little while, and let it dry. Then, I leave it on for a certain period of time. If you're just starting to use yogurt, it's best to leave it on for 15 minutes in the first month, then 30 minutes in the second month, and so on and so forth. Also, since yogurt reduces redness and is very soothing, it's great for sunburns! You can apply it the same way as the facial mask, or you can come up with your own specialized method.
Now, it may take a while to see the results of the yogurt method. What I've seen so for is a reduction of the appearance of blackheads, the prevention of breakouts, and the treatment of redness and blemishes. It could take about three weeks to actually see results, but be patient and don't give up! This is just a small step to achieve great-looking skin! :]
Good luck, and thanks everyone!
